1. What KALKAN does

KALKAN filters unwanted SMS/MMS messages and screens unwanted calls, entirely on your device. On Android it operates as your default SMS app; see §4.

2. What KALKAN does not promise

Spam filtering is a judgement, not a certainty. KALKAN does not guarantee that every unwanted message will be caught, or that no legitimate message will ever be held back. You remain responsible for reviewing quarantined items.

We make no claim of complete protection, and we do not publish an accuracy figure as a promise of real-world performance.

3. Purchase

KALKAN is a paid app. You pay once, when you download it from the App Store or Google Play.

There are no in-app purchases. No subscription, nothing that renews automatically, nothing to cancel, and no ads. The app never asks you for additional payment.

Every feature is included for everyone who buys it: spam and scam filtering, call protection, the Check tools, quarantine, allow/block lists, advanced rules, number range and prefix blocking, sensitivity control and local statistics.

The price is shown by the store in your local currency. The purchase is tied to the Apple Account or Google account used to pay, and you can reinstall on your devices signed in to that account.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.

4. Android default SMS role

To quarantine a message before it reaches your inbox, Android requires KALKAN to be the default SMS app. While KALKAN holds that role it can read, write and send SMS/MMS. You may remove the role at any time from system settings; KALKAN then stops all such access immediately.

MMS note: KALKAN supports receiving and sending multimedia messages. Some carrier-specific behaviour has not been validated on every network.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use KALKAN to intercept messages on a device you do not own or control, or in a way that breaks applicable law.

6. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, KALKAN is provided "as is". We are not liable for a message that was filtered, or for one that was not.

7. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app and at https://samettrm.github.io/kalkan/terms/.
